Measuring your driveway and ordering the right quantity of PICSCOAT

Measure my drive It’s important that you have a good idea of the size of your driveway so that you can order the correct amount of PICSCOAT. The porosity and texture of the surface will also have an effect on the amount of material required.

Generally a 5ltr unit will be sufficient for an area of between 10 and 15 m² and a 20ltr unit for an area of between 40 and 60 m2.

If you don’t know the size of your driveway you will need to measure it to work out how many square metres need to be refurbished. Here’s how you can do that...

You can simply pace out the area (assuming one large pace is about a metre) or preferably use a tape measure, to find the length and width of the area to be treated.

  • For example, a driveway is 8 paces (metres) long and 3½ paces (metres) wide.
  • 8m long x 3½m wide equals 28m2.

Measure my drive If your area is more complicated than a simple square or rectangle, mark out areas so that the driveway is broken up into a number of easy to measure squares, rectangles and triangles. Measure each of the areas, calculate the number of square metres for each area then add them all up to work out the total number of square metres for your project. This way, you’ll get an accurate figure, even on large, complicated areas.

  • Each square is simply length x width.
  • Each rectangle is simply length x width.
  • Each triangle is length x width, then divide by 2.

Measure my drive Now that you know the number of square metres, you will have a good idea of how much material you will require. On a good quality closed tarmac surface (no little holes or pits in the surface) you may achieve 3m2 per litre if PICSCOAT is applied diligently. To be sure you have enough material, if your driveway has an open, porous or pitted surface base your calculations on 2m2 per litre so that you don’t run out of PICSCOAT and to ensure you have enough material to undertake a top quality job.

If you’re not sure how much material your driveway may require regarding the porosity and you don’t want to order the extra material, (just in case you don’t need it), that’s not a problem as PICSCOAT can be recoated or joined on to an existing area at a later date, if you run out of material.

Happy Customers

Applied my PICSCOAT yesterday. I was surprised that it was as easy as the dvd suggested and-yes- it does look absolutely stunning!! Thank you so much-will certainly be recommending to neighbours and friends.

I don’t usually buy things online but the path and patio at our new home were shocking so I bought some PICSCOAT, cleaned the area, rolled it on, and now it looks great.
